Fitzgerald Lives!

Ok, so for those who know me, it's no secret that my favorite libro is The Beautiful and Damned by Fitzgerald. Anthony and Gloria are such amazing characters, so consumed by their own vanity to ever truly be feliz. And, no matter how awful they are at times, you still root for them--te quieres them to realize the err of their narcissistic ways and find meaning. Hate to spoil it for you, but none of this happens. They are some selfish bastardos! ALas, Fitzgerald writes beautifully and because of Gloria's conveyed style I have been perusing the internet for flapper pics. All the big fashion houses (Chanel, Balmain, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Halston) have used flappers/prohibition/roaring 20s as inspiration at some point. I am sensing my next Halloween costume...

Guilty Pleasure

Ok so a few months ago while channel surfing I landed on this show on the Style network. Fast forward and the same episodes that I loved back then are now airing as "new" on the E channel.

Even though I've seen them all, I watch them anyway because I really think they are one of the healthiest and happiest relationships I've seen in a while... and truth be told, I totally bought her "Think Like a Guy" book while perusing the self-help section of a Barnes & Noble one rainy Sunday. Ok that sounded pathetic. But really, it was a fun poolside read, and I read excerpts to Novio who probably thought it was completely ridiculous. Either way, there's no harm in watching (or reading) fluff once in a while!

This One's Personal

The first real book I ever read was Grace Kelly's biography, Grace by Robert Lacey. I was so fascinated by her American Socialite-turned-real life Princess, and really what young girl wouldn't be.
She is so beyond chic it continues to amaze me. Sometimes I re-read sections of the book (I always stop when I get to deep into her marriage--so much of her charisma fades when she gains her royal title), but snippets of her young adulthood always make me laugh. Such an interesting person, yet another who was gone well before her time.

Sorry to be so depressing! I just wanted to recognize one of the greats.

The Original Bergdorf Blonde

Since I'm on such a roll posting away about my favorite blondes, here is the Manhattanite Blonde Du Jour (RIP CBK & JFK Jr!). Her blonde mane is forever immortalized in the pages of my favorite book, Bergdorf Blondes by Plum Sykes.

Despite all the vicious rumours about CBK, one thing is indisputable: the girl had PIZAZZ. And that's why I have chosen to honor her this evening, in a photo with her dreeeamy and ambitiously sexy husband, JFK, Jr. How greatly you are both missed.

post turkey day wrap up

This holiday season was spent in Athens, GA with my dad, brother (CT), and novio y my stepmom's family. After dinner... dad CT and I went to paint the town in holiday cheer, resulting in my sorry @$$ staying in bed all day Friday aside from my bouts to the bathroom to yak up turkey, gravy, and vodka.

Also, novio is getting ready for FINALS. Its so crazy that semester uno of law school is practically dunzo. I heard horror stories though that 2nd semester is a total bitch. I desperately hope this is not the case.

ALSO, I found out that my Chrsitmas present is a vacation, I'm a bridesmaid in my old college roomate's wedding, and that exercise and eating right really do wonders for a gal's figure. Primero, the trip: a week, mid-2010 BACKPACKING THROUGH PERU TO MACHU PICCHU! Second, the wedding: Kari & Zack, March 2010. And the gym? I'm slowly dwindling away those post collegiate cling-ons. Soooooooo, all in all, todo bien! Except that I am feeling slightly under the weather.

Tiempo a practico my espanol y leo "The Time Traveler's Wife." Que lindo!

Dear Santa

I know this is premature, being that we haven't even gotten through Thanksgiving, but I believe the early bird gets the worm--or the baubles, in my case. To be fully prepared for this holiday season, I've decided to construct my Christmas Wish List.

You know what I truly adore? Juicy Couture. Them, along with Betsey Johnson, are at the top of my list because they are so unabashedly girly. I love it! I asked for this bracelet for my birthday and was sadly jilted, though no matter, I'll simply pay it forward to my holiday list.
I'll stick to one item per post (I dont want to seem like a materialistic brat!).
In other news, I'm reading a divine book called "The Last Summer (of You and Me)" by Ann Brasheres, the same whimisical writer behind the Traveling Pants books. Takes me back to my youth! Great beach read. It really helped me pass the time while sunbathing yesterday. I have a monster migraine right now, so it's off to the medicine cabinet for excedrin and some tea... ta ta for now ;)

I ABSOLUTELY NEED TO GET MY HANDS
ON THIS BOOK!! As a Gossip Girl devotee, I am
truly intrigued by the plotlines as much as the
sick fashion. Case in point, Serena's one shoulder
black dress tonight (and coat she wore over it)
has me literally foaming at the mouth. I gotta have it! Or, at least, its Forever21 knockoff version. I'm just being real--chica's gotta budget.

Which reminds me--I am MUCHAS furious with the fact that Wednesday's holiday will put off my food/gas/anything and everything spending. In other words, payday has been pushed back. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Veteran's...but I also love to eat.

Also, I officially am taking a psuedo-college Christmas Break! I am BEYOND excited to lay around and have my mom cook for me. And to just RELAX. FOr like... 8 or 9 days! Whoa Nelly.

On the brain: Debating a Master's degree. Of course, I would go for Journalism or something of the like... wondering if I should just try my hand at blogging/contributing writing and see how far that gets me before I pony up a third of my yearly pay for tuition.....

Speaking of, its time to proverbially whore myself out to whatever magazine will print my work. And by whore, I mean hound the living day lights until they recognize how valuable I am. Think Glenn Close in Dangerous Liasons w.o the bunny.
